Weekend getaways in NM. Where to go when you live in Clovis!

So, you're moving (or moved) to Clovis.. and you've googled endlessly looking for things to do?  Well... the good news is that NM and West TX are filled with great options, the bad news is that there isn't a whole lot here, and larger cities are at least 2 hours away. So it may require a bit of planning ahead for weekend adventures.

This will be the first in a series of posts about weekend travel options around NM and West TX. There really are endless options and some absolutely amazing destinations. Read on to see my #1 NM pick... Santa Fe!

You've probably heard of Santa Fe even if you've never been to NM. It's not only the state capital, but also a mecca of art, culture and history.  It also happens to be a favorite celebrity hangout. You can indulge in amazing food, spas and shopping, all surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. Hiking and biking are fabulous in the summer, and don't forget world class skiing in the winter!

 My family loves it!

These images are just a tiny glimpse into our last weekend in Santa Fe.
We took a historical tour of the city, attended an amazing symphony orchestra performance, played "foot golf," (so much fun!!), shopped the Navajo street vendors around the square and ate, and ate and ate.. so much amazing food!

A Santa Fe getaway can work for any budget, from very modest, to completely extravagant!

The town square is filled with artists and performers from around the world.

The Lensic hosts world class events in dance, music, film, theater, opera and more!

Listed as one of the best travel destinations in the country.. this 3.5 hour trip is totally worth the drive! So, there's weekend trip #1!
